So Cassandra, tell me about yourself.
I am a creative thinker with a passion for all things wellness. For as long as I can remember, I have been a storyteller, and have felt a sense of clarity letting my thoughts spill out onto paper. I am stubborn, yet driven in nature, which has allowed me to seek new growth opportunities. I wouldn’t change it for the world.
How did Allora Magazine come about?
Allora Magazine began as a passion project that I started during the first few months of quarantine. I had always wanted to create a platform that showcased my love for writing, lifestyle, health and wellness. I like to look at it as one of the only beneficial things that came out of this pandemic.
Allora has allowed me to bring my wildest dreams to fruition. Not only have I learned more about myself during this journey than ever before, but I have also developed a deeper understanding of what personal wellness is. I have come to meet a community of like-minded individuals who bring so much inspiration into the wellness space, and for that, I am incredibly grateful.
Where do you see the magazine going in the future?
I could have never imagined the immense amount of support and love I have received because of Allora Magazine. I hope that I can continue to inspire those in the wellness community with my authenticity and content. Taking in every moment, and looking forward to what’s to come!
What’s the most fulfilling experience you’ve had that relates to your passions and goals?
My most fulfilling experience is being able to grow with this incredible community! I am so grateful for the inspiring people I have met, the knowledge I have gained, and everything that is yet to come!
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced with regard to Allora?
Followers do not measure your worth- I’ve come to realize this since starting Allora. I told myself that I would never become the person who gets caught up in the perfectly curated successes and lives of others I see on social media. But like most creatives or human beings in general, we can find ourselves from time to time doing just that. I have grown to measure my success in how my content speaks to others, the community I build, and how what I put out into this space allows me to grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
If you could talk to your younger self, what would you tell her?
Slow down. Enjoy the little moments that are right in front of you. Stop focusing so much on the future and start living in the present. Take it all in, the good, the bad and everything in between. Life doesn’t come without its struggles, but I’ve realized that listening to what my body and mind needs is more important than we think. Rest, reflect and reset.
Where and how do you find inspiration?
I get inspired at the most unexpected moments. I could be brushing my teeth and think of this fantastic new idea out of the blue lol. I find inspiration in things that I am curious about, the people in my life, my experiences, and other creatives in this space. When I come up with or come across a new idea, I always think that if this is something that piqued my interest, it will probably do the same for others. There is so much out there that is just waiting to be seen, heard and understood. Education leads to growth, so if I can help bring just a bit of that to Allora’s community, I’m grateful.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
You are stronger than you think. When you feel like the world is crashing down on you, remember that the power you seek to hold it up lies within you. Feel your feelings, rest when you need it and love yourself first. That is the only thing that truly matters- thanks, mom.
What’s the one self-care practice you can’t live without? (can have more) Movement is a vital part of my daily routine. It brings clarity like nothing else. Getting that AM sweat in kickstarts my day and gives me the strength to conquer anything it throws at me. For me, this is the ultimate form of self-care.
What are you currently working on/curious about?
Since starting Allora, I have become more and more curious about holistic living and the power of spirituality, thanks to the amazing creatives I follow in this space. This is something I would like to tap into and learn more about in the near future.
